Friday favorites: Puerto Rico green

elverde_2015_02_06_120008If you are missing the green lushness of summer, you can feast your eyes on this view from the PhenoCam at El Verde Field Station in Puerto Rico. This tropical forest has trees with green leaves year round. Some trees do turn color and drop their leaves, but they don’t all do it at the same time. Scientific understanding of the phenology of tropical forests is small, so we are gradually adding PhenoCams in the tropics to start to understand the seasonal cycles of tropical trees.
